Marion County Holding Seminar for Seniors on Fraud

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Prosecutors in Indiana's most populous county are reaching out to seniors with a free public forum to educate them about to avoid becoming victims of fraud and common scams.

The Marion County prosecutor's office will hold a seminar Thursday in the suburban Indianapolis community of Beech Grove. A deputy prosecutor will discuss identity theft, telemarketing scams, home improvement fraud and other issues at that free seminar.

The “Power Against Fraud” seminar is sponsored in conjunction with the prosecutor's office and Adult Protective Services and is intended for senior citizens, caregivers and senior's relatives.

Prosecutors say the goal is to give those parties the knowledge to recognize and prevent seniors from becoming victims of fraud and common scams.
