NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (WOWO): A now-former Manchester University student is in jail on a murder charge after her newborn boy died after it was born.

Indiana State Police officials say 21-year-old Mikayla Munn was arrested at her Elkhart home at about 12:45 p.m. Monday on initial charges of murder and neglect of a dependent causing death.

On March 28th, she reportedly gave birth to an infant boy in a bath tub in her dorm room. The child was not breathing when first responders arrived and was later pronounced dead.

ISP detectives, along with the North Manchester Police Department, started an investigation into the boy’s death “due to inconsistent information”, and a warrant was issued for Munn’s arrest.
