Man Testifies Indianapolis Explosion Caused Flashback

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Residents of an Indianapolis neighborhood devastated by a 2012 house explosion are describing the aftermath of the incident as testimony continues in the trial of a man charged in the blast.

War veteran Walter Colbert told jurors Wednesday that the blast caused a flashback to his deployment in Afghanistan and left him uncertain of where he was until he saw his son. Other witnesses said they thought it was snowing because insulation was raining down.

About 175 witnesses are expected to testify in the trial of 46-year-old Mark Leonard. He faces murder, arson and other charges in the explosion that killed two people.

One female juror was excused for what St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha described as a family tragedy. The jury now has five alternates.
