EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A 29-year-old Evansville man who pleaded guilty to striking and killing a pedestrian while driving drunk must spend two years on electronic home detention.
 
The Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/1hZTE0j) reports that Connor Dant must also submit to daily alcohol breath tests while on home detention, have his driver's license suspended for 30 months as part of the sentence handed down Thursday.
 
Last month a judge accepted a plea agreement in which Dant pleaded guilty to a lower level felony than he'd been originally charged in the Feb. 11 death of 58-year-old Darrell Asbridge.
 
Dant's attorney said it was unusual for someone in this kind of case to avoid jail but noted that Dant stopped after his car hit Asbridge, called 911 and stayed with Asbridge until police arrived.
