Man Sentenced for Child Pornography

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): A registered sex offender from Ohio was sentenced in federal court in Indianapolis to 35 years in prison on child pornography and other charges.

The U.S. Attorney‘s office says John Alan Lewis, 65, of Lima, Ohio was sentenced to prison following a conviction on charges of attempted production of child pornography, traveling across state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and the transportation and possession of child pornography.

Law enforcement officials say from November 2011 to May 2012, Lewis sent and received numerous images of a minor under the age of 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

That person was actually an adult registered sex offender from New York named Hector Bautista. After Bautista was arrested, investigators assumed the role of the 14-year-old girl and engaged in several online chats with Lewis during which Lewis explained his plan to travel to Indiana, pick up the girl and take her to a motel to engage in sexual acts with her.

In September 2012, Lewis traveled from Lima, Ohio to Plainfield, Indiana and was arrested when he arrived. Lewis was also found to be in possession of child pornography on three electronic devices.
