Man pleads guilty in machete slaying

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man could face up to 50 years in prison after he admitted in court Thursday to killing his wife with a machete.

Julio Rodriguez, 47, entered a guilty plea for murder in the death of Lucia Aviles Segura, 41, according to the Journal Gazette.

Police were called to the couple’s home on Baxter Street near Weisser Park on the morning of May 30 of this year, where they found Segura’s body in the basement. Rodriguez told police he and he wife were fighting when he grabbed a machete and stabbed her twice in the neck.

A sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 11.
