Man Missing In Lake Michigan

PORTAGE, Ind. (WOWO):  A man is missing after his motor didn't start in Lake Michigan.

29 year old Ron Wood Jr. of Chicago, IL took his motorboat along with several other people off the shore of Lake Michigan in Portage.  Members of the group he was in went swimming and began to float away from the boat.  Wood tried to used his boat to rescue two of the swimmers, but began to drift several hundred feet away when the motor wouldn't start.

Another passenger called 911.  Meanwhile a nearby boat saw the group in distress and came in to rescue the two swimmers.  The swimmers were in the water roughly 35 minutes before they were rescued.  However during the rescues the boat containing Wood floated out of range and Indiana Conservation Officers say he is currently missing.  Crews attempted to find Wood, but the search was postponed because of darkness.

At this time he has not been found.
