JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ State police say an Indianapolis man was struck and killed by a semitrailer while walking on Interstate 265 in southern Indiana.

Sgt. Jerry Goodin says a caller had reported a man walking in an I-265 construction zone near Jeffersonville about 1 a.m. Friday. He says a trooper arrived in the area just as a semitrailer hit the man.

Goodin says the trooper saw 66-year-old Larry Peyton walking in the driving lane and that he appeared to be staggering. Peyton was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The semi driver wasn't hurt.
