Man killed in LaGrange County crash

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. (WOWO): A 21-year-old Shipshewana man is dead after his pickup was involved in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning near Stone Lake.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department said Brandon Weaver was driving a Dodge pickup at a “high rate of speed” and lost control on County Road 1150 West. The truck left the roadway, hit a NIPSCO pole and overturned.

Weaver was ejected from the vehicle when it collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say he hadn’t been wearing a seat belt, but couldn’t confirm if anything other than speed was a factor in the crash.
