Man Injured in Kosciusko County Crash

SYRACUSE, Ind. (WOWO): A Milford man is in critical condition following a single vehicle crash that occurred last evening west of the town of Syracuse.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded last evening at approximately 7:58 p.m. to the intersection of Bowser Road and County Road 375 East after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding a vehicular crash.  Responders arrived and located a 2001 GMC Yukon in the roadway, with the driver partially ejected from the vehicle.  Milford & Syracuse Fire Departments extracted the driver, identified as Scott P. Wippel, 49, Milford.  Wippel was immediately air lift to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, with multiple injuries.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. crash reconstructionist have preliminarily determined that Wippel had been westbound on Bowser Road, from the town of Syracuse.  Wippel had purportedly stopped and picked-up a passenger, identified as Cody R. Stuckman, 21, North Webster, who had been walking along the roadway.  As Wipple continued westbound, his SUV left the roadway near the curve at County Road 375 East, striking several trees on the south side of the road, before rolling over and landing in the middle of Bowser Road.  Stuckman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.  Wipple is listed in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members stated that the crash is still under investigation. 

The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team was assisted at the scene by members of the Milford Fire Department, Syracuse/Turkey Creek Township EMS & Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, and the Syracuse Police Department.
