Man in Critical Condition after Crash

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A 45-year-old man was airlifted in critical condition from a vehicle crash that happened Friday night in Kosciusko County.

According to police, the call for help came in just after 6:00 p.m. Once they arrived on the scene at the intersection of County Road 1000 East and County Road 1050 North they found a pickup truck that had rolled-over into a soybean field, striking a utility pole and ejecting the driver.

The driver, 45-year-old Javier Lopez, was immediately airlifted from the scene to a hospital in Fort Wayne, with head and leg injuries.  Lopez’s passenger, 30-year-old Miguel Sanchez, was also airlifted from the scene with serious leg injuries.

An investigation revealed that Lopez was traveling southbound approaching the intersection when a vehicle suddenly pulled-out into the path of the Lopez’s vehicle.  Lopez attempted to swerve, but subsequently went off the roadway. Witnesses stated that the other vehicle involved did not make contact with Lopez’s vehicle, but left the scene shortly after the crash.

The crash is still currently under investigation.
