Man Dies After Falling Through Ice in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): One man is dead after falling through ice while fishing on a pond Tuesday night. It happened just after 9:30 P.M. when crews were called to Stellhorn Road near 469 in New Haven, where 50-year-old Mark Pusey, of New Haven, was ice fishing and fell through thin ice. He was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was recovered around 10:00 P.M. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death. Indiana Conservation Officers are reminding everyone to use extreme caution when going out on frozen lakes and ponds and recommend at least 4″ of clear ice to support the weight of a person. Officers say to never venture out on the ice alone and always wear a personal floatation device when on or around the water.
