Man Convicted Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend’s Father

PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) _ Jurors have recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole for a southwestern Indiana man they convicted of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend's father.

The Gibson County jury reached a guilty verdict Tuesday on murder charges against 25-year-old Austin Blaize for the January 2013 killing of 47-year-old Terry Monier at the older man's home near the town of Fort Branch about 20 miles north of Evansville.

The Princeton Daily Clarion reports Blaize testified that he didn't kill Monier but that Blaize's ex-girlfriend testified she saw him threaten her new boyfriend with a gun and then heard the shots that killed her father.

Defense attorney Ivan Arnaez tells the Evansville Courier & Press that Blaize will appeal the conviction.

The judge scheduled sentencing for Sept. 25.
