Man Confesses in Gary Murder Case

HAMMOND, Ind. (WOWO): An Indiana man involved in a string of murders was the key to helping police determine the whereabouts of the victims' bodies.

In Gary, three separate women were each found dead at three separate homes.  Police found the first body late Saturday evening and the second and third bodies within ninety minutes of the first call. The body of a fourth woman, killed in a Hammond, Ind. hotel helped police discover where the other bodies were located.

The man, who's name has not yet been released, confessed to killing a woman whose body was found in a Motel 6. According to the Journal Gazette, the 43-year-old man provided information during questioning by the Hammond Police Department.

On Friday, 19-year-old Afrika Hardy was found at the hotel. The Lake County Cororner's office identified her body on Sunday and said she died after being strangled.

A second victim, found in one of the homes, was 35-year-old Anith Jones of Merrillville. The Journal Gazette reports autopsies had not been completed on the other two women, who have not yet been identified.

The man was taken into custody on Saturday. He hasn't confessed to killing any of the other three women and is currently being held in the Hammond City Jail.
