Man Charged in Muncie Murder Transferred from Jail to Prison

MUNCIE,  Ind. (AP) – A 33-year-old Muncie man charged with murder in the stabbing death of a woman on Christmas Eve 2009 has been transferred from jail to prison at his own request.

The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1Bkzphs ) Danny Saintignon Jr. requested the transfer in mid-April and Delaware Circuit Judge Linda Ralu Wolf told him to take up the request with his public defender. Defense attorney Robert Beymer later made a motion for Saintignon's transfer, and Wolf recently granted it.

He is charged in the slaying of 35-year-old Monica Brown of Muncie. Police say he broke into her home to rob her of medications.

Saintignon last year was sentenced to 23 years in prison for his role in an armed home invasion. He is scheduled to go on trial Aug. 10 in Brown's death.
