Man Charged after Trying to Flee Sheriff Deputies

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): A local man is facing preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and battery after trying to flee from an ambulance following an early morning crash.

Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel says 26-year-old Lorenzo Crosby was taken into custody early Thursday after being involved in a crash northeast of Fort Wayne about 3:10 a.m. Thursday.

Tinkel says Crosby complained of pain so was brought to a hospital. A police officer followed the ambulance because police suspected Crosby may have been driving impaired. Police say Crosby fled when the ambulance arrived at the hospital. He was apprehended in the parking lot by police and paramedics.

Crosby is being held at the Allen County Jail.
