Man Charged after Toddler Suffers Serious Head Injuries

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – A central Indiana man faces three felony charges after an 18-month-old girl suffered life-threatening head injuries while in his care.

Twenty-two-year-old Timothy Grissom of Lebanon was charged Friday with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated battery and battery of a child resulting in serious bodily injury.

Court documents say the child suffered a skull fracture, brain hemorrhaging and other serious injuries while Grissom watched the girl Dec. 10 at her Lafayette home.

The documents say Grissom initially told doctors that the child fell off of a sofa and onto pillows. It says he later told police that she hit her head during a bath in the sink and then fell to the floor.

It wasn't immediately known if Grissom has an attorney.
