Fort Wayne man caught after 108-mph chase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An early-morning joyride ended with an 18-year-old Fort Wayne man behind bars.

The Indiana State Police tells our Partners in News at 21Alive Amado Perez of Fort Wayne was drunk when he took his grandmother’s car and ended up clocked at 108 miles per hour on I-69 Southbound near Anthony in Delaware County at just before 3am.

He kept going when a trooper tried to pull him over, and was able to avoid “stop sticks” put on the road in Madison County, when he eventually ran out of gas about 12 miles after the chase started. He jumped out of the car and tried to run but was caught when he ran into a fence.

In addition to drunk driving charges, he was arrested for resisting arrest.

He also got a speeding ticket.
