FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): During a traffic stop in Fort Wayne, a man admitted to leaving his children alone in order to purchase drugs.

Early Friday morning, detectives with the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit made a stop at Lafayette St. and McKinnnie Ave. at the Marathon Gas Station. In the back seat was a 2 month old infant and her father, Michael Johnson. Johnson confessed that he left his two young children at the home to go on a cocaine run.

Police found cocaine wrapped up in a piece of paper hidden in the infants car seat. Officers then went to check Johnson's apartment and found a 3 year old and a 5 year old sleeping. The mother of the children was at work while the father slipped out. She was able to take custody of the children while police arrested Johnson for 5 charges, including Neglect of a Dependent and Possession of Cocaine.
