Man Arrested after Gun Found in Bag at Chicago Airport

CHICAGO (AP) _ A 35-year-old Indiana man has been arrested after authorities say a loaded handgun was spotted in his carry-on bag at Midway International Airport in Chicago.

According to authorities, an airport security agent saw the handgun while the bag was going through a security checkpoint Monday morning.

Sieon Roberts of Hobart, Indiana, was charged with a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm at an airport. He was released on a personal recognizance bond and has a court appearance in Chicago scheduled for April 24.

The Chicago Tribune reports officials say Roberts had a concealed carry permit from Indiana. Firearms aren't allowed in carry-on luggage.

Authorities say six guns have been found in carry-on luggage at Midway this year, matching the total for all of last year.

A listed phone number for Roberts could not be found.
