FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) -Lutheran Child Development Center announced that it will be limiting child care to employees of Lutheran Health Network to allow expansion of their clinical services, according to the Journal Gazette.

Geoff Thomas, a spokesman for Lutheran Health Network, issued a statement on the reduction of child care capacity, “Lutheran is nearing the tart of a major construction project on the hospital’s lower level that will absorb space currently utilized by the child development center.”

The decision to offer child care at Bright Horizons to only employees was prompted by the finalization of the construction schedule over the last few weeks.  Thomas goes on to say “We empathize with the non-Lutheran families who are impacted by this change”

Families were notified and given a 30 day notice on Thursday by a letter from Bright Horizons.  They are hoping the time given will allow families to make new arrangements on child care.  The letter also stated that they are planning to provide a number of resources to aid the affected families.

As far as the expansion goes, Thomas states the announcement will come at a later date but does describe it as a “positive expansion of specialized patient care.”
