Logansport fire ruled accidental

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WOWO): Investigators say there is no evidence a fatal house fire was intentionally set.

Six people died including four children in the fire early Wednesday.

Officials say there is some evidence the fire may have been caused by an electrical issue. However, they did rule out major appliances as sources of ignition. The cause is still unknown. There were no working smoke detectors in the home.

Someone called Cass County Dispatch just before 2 a.m. Wednesday to report a house fire in the 4300 block Pottawatomie Point Road outside Logansport. Multiple fire departments worked to contain the fire, which was difficult due to cold temperatures and a lack of water access.

Joseph Huddleston 42, Brandi Vail, 25 along with Kadee Huddleston 10, Swayzee Hite, 3, Rhylie Hite,1, and three-month-old Marshall Hite all died in the fire. Two adults suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital.

An investigation is still ongoing.
