Local record store being forced to close to make way for national chain

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There’s a bit of controversy brewing at Glenbrook Mall in Fort Wayne.

Customers of Entourage Music have learned the locally-owned shop won’t see their lease renewed by mall management, to make way for an F.Y.E. store — also a music and entertainment store. Morrison Agen runs NEAT NEAT NEAT, a music store on Calhoun Street, and says it just doesn’t seem right:

“(FYE) were in the mall ten years ago, and left during the music sales downturn. Myself and Chris Rhoades from Entourage since then have fought to bring back music retail, and now F.Y.E. wants to come back, but only under the circumstances that the ‘little guy’ has to leave the mall.”

He concedes that while he’s “surprised and saddened” mall management would make this move, they’re within their rights to do so.

As it stands, Entourage Music’s last day in business at the mall is this Wednesday.
