FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Republicans have to choose someone to replace Governor Mike Pence on the November ballot this week.

Andy Downs of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics in Fort Wayne says each candidate has a record that can be easily checked and vetted by the state committee”

“If it’s Holcomb, even though Holcomb’s not been lieutenant governor that long, they can still paint him with, kind of, everything that was Pence and make Holcomb distance himself from Pence,” said Downs. “If it’s Congresswoman Susan Brooks or Congressman Todd Rokita, there are legislative records they can look at.”

Downs said state Sen. Jim Tomes, though a candidate, is less likely to be considered than the other three.

Governor Pence has recommended Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb as his pick. His replacement will be announced tomorrow.
