FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Reverend Carlton Lynch is on a mission. He plans to help the residents of Flint, Michigan who are suffering through a major crisis.

Lynch wants to bring 50,000 bottles of water to Flint residents on Feb. 1, but he needs help. Fort Wayne residents can donate or buy water at the Southgate Kroger, which is located on East Pettit Avenue.

The Kroger store will match anyone who purchases a case of water at its store and donates it to the cause.

“It’s so close to home,” Lynch told WOWO News. “We’re literally two and a half hours to Flint, Michigan. I just believe we are too close not to lend a helping hand.”

Initially, Lynch planned to send just 5,000 bottles of water to Flint. But, local Democratic and Republican parties decided to help as well. Both parties have pledged to send 5,000 bottles.

Lynch said local organizations and reverends are supporting the cause too. The Boys and Girls Club, Urban League and Rev. Robert Bell have all pledged bottles.

By Thursday afternoon, he has approximately 20,000 bottles of water pledged, but he’s looking for more.

Lynch is also looking for volunteers that can help load and deliver the water. If interested call him personally at (260) 466-8237.
