Local party heads share thoughts on Election Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Tuesday is Election Day, but not just the Presidency is at stake. There are high-stake contests up and down the ballot.

Allen County Democratic Party Chairman Jack Morris is optimistic about the Gubernatorial and US Senate races:

“They’re close races. They could do either way. We believe we have the stronger and better candidates, but we’re not taking anything for granted.”

Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine feels the same:

“I believe the momentum with both races are with the Republican party.”

Speaking on the gubernatorial races, Morris tells WOWO News John Gregg has a good shot:

“If you don’t listen to the lies about him, (ads) claiming he busted the budget when he in fact kept it balanced while he was in the house, I think he’ll win.”

Unsurprisingly, Shine sees things differently, saying Eric Holcomb is the right choice:

“I call Eric ‘the architect,’ because it was Eric who joined the Mitch Daniels campaign and administration, and helped get some tremendous public policies implemented, turning Indiana around from the prior administration.”

The other big race is for US Senate, which will see Republican Todd Young face off against Democrat Evan Bayh, in what most polls predict is a close contest.
