Local Man Charged with Criminal Confinement and Battery After Possible Kidnapping

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man has been charged with criminal confinement and battery after an alleged kidnapping. Police were called to New Haven Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard around 9:45 last night on report of a possible kidnap attempt after a passing driver saw a woman escape a vehicle through a window. According to police, the victim had been battered and held against her will at 51-year-old Gregory Brownlow's house before being driven from that location. The two had recently met and knew one another for approximately two days before the incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Officers went to Brownlow's house but couldn't make contact with him. After over 3 hours, Brownlow surrendered peacefully. He was taken to Police Headquarters where he was interviewed and charged.
