Local Groups Donate to Heritage Elementary Project

MONROEVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): A local elementary has expanded its sensory room.

Heritage Elementary received gifts from St. Joe Community Health Foundation, Anthony Wayne Services Foundation, Heritage Elementary PTO and the Hoagland Lions Club.

School officials say the room, also known as a multi-sensory environment is designed to create a calming and stimulating atmosphere. Using specialized equipment for sensory needs, the students educational experience is enhanced.

According to studies, 67 percent of students at the school showed an improvement in target behaviors.
