Legislative Committee Recommends Changes to Indiana Casinos

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The state could deal two Indiana racinos a winning hand. A legislative study committee has recommended allowing live dealers to replace video gaming at Hoosier Park in Anderson and Indiana Grand Casino in Shelbyville.

The panel also voted to let riverboat casinos move inland for the first time. Ultimately, it will be up to the Indiana General Assembly to decide–and it could be a tough sell to some in state government – including Governor Pence. Pence has made it clear in the past that he won‘t support any expansion of the gaming industry.

Industry representatives say competition has grown significantly from Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. State numbers show revenues from Indiana‘s casinos and racinos dropped more than 13 percent in 12 months.
