Lawmakers Moving Away From New Soccer Stadium for Indy Eleven

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Legislators appear to have permanently dropped the idea of a new stadium for the Indy Eleven soccer team in favor of a renovation of IUPUI‘s Carroll Stadium. But they‘re still hashing out final details.

The Senate killed the original proposal for a new 83-million-dollar stadium in favor of a less costly expansion of Carroll Stadium.

Fishers Representative Todd Huston says the goal is to fix the amount of the state‘s contribution, and leave the Eleven, I-U and the city to decide how to make up the difference. But he says legislators are still deciding how much the state should chip in.
