Lantern Reception Hall to be Auctioned on Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Lantern Reception Hall is up for auction after nearly 50 years.

The building, located on the 4400 block of Ardmore Avenue, will go up for auction at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. The Lantern went out of business at the end of October.

According to the Journal Gazette, Anthony Wayne Corporation bought the reception hall in June of 2006 from Ronald Hardisty, who owned the business for 40 years.

Since other local gathering-spaces opened in the Fort Wayne area, competition has certainly increased.

The sale of the building is nearly 14,800 square-feet and includes a three-way liquor license, along with kitchen and catering equipment. A 2004 Chevy Astro van will also come with decorations, banquet chairs, and folding tables.

The auctioneer of Saturday's event will be Brandon Steffen of the Steffen Group.
