Lake County Emergency Communications Plan Progressing

CROWN POINT, Ind. (WOWO): One of Indiana‘s largest emergency communications consolidations is moving ahead, on-schedule.

The Lake County emergency communications center is scheduled to open around the end of March, in what E-9-1-1 executive director Brian Hitchcock considers record time considering he only got started on the project early last year.

It was supposed to be completed on December 31st.

The state-mandated consolidation was delayed for years by opposition from the politicians in Lake County towns and cities.

It will combine at least 15 community dispatch centers into one.
