Lafayette Police Investigate Attempted Abduction

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP): Police in Lafayette are investigating the reported attempted abduction of a 12-year-old boy.

The boy and witnesses told police that it happened Thursday night as choir members from St. Boniface Catholic Church were practicing at a downtown home.

The Journal & Courier and WLFI-TV report the boy was coming out of a bathroom when a middle-age man he didn't know grabbed him and put his hand over the boy's mouth.

Giovanni Santiago says he and others heard the boy scream and ran to help, but the man was already running out the door.

Police officers searched the area but didn't immediately find any suspects.
