FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Komets picked up some much-needed momentum during a series of games on and after Thanksgiving last week.

On Thanksgiving night, the Komets defeated the Brampton Beast 3-2 on a night that was extra special for WOWO: it was not only the Bob Chase Memorial Game, but it was also the kick-off to public fundraising efforts for WOWO’s annual Penny Pitch effort. Special Bob Chase bobbleheads were sold, with proceeds going to this year’s fundraiser, benefiting Erin’s House for Grieving Children and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana. Goalie Zach Fucale stopped 27 shots and the Komets also saw goals by J.C. Campagna, Jake Kamrass and Justin Hodgman.

Friday night, the Ks headed to Kalamazoo to defeat the Wings 4-2. Goalie Lukas Hafner stopped 34 shots and the Komets had goals from Justin Hodgman, J.C. Campagna, Justin Kea, and Jake Kamrass.

Then on Saturday night, the Komets returned home to Fort Wayne to defeat the Western Conference-leading Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2. Goalie Zach Fucale had another good night, stopping 24 shots, and the Komets had goals from Team Captain Jamie Schaafsma, Shawn Szydlowski, and J.C. Campagna.

The Komets are back in action Wednesday in Cincinnati against the Cyclones. Puck drop is at 7:35pm. You can hear Komets hockey all season long on WOWO.
