Komets Open Training Camp

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): We'll soon be seeing orange, lots of it.

That's because the Fort Wayne Komets opening training camp Monday. Players were introduced at a luncheon, before hitting the ice later in the afternoon.

Komet President Michael Franke says the team is the fabric of northeast Indiana.

“Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are coming with their grandparents. Maybe they were here for those first few years (of the team). I think tradition is a big thing,” he said.

The K's will play three exhibition games this week. Wednesday at Indianapolis. They'll return home Friday and Saturday for a pair of pre-season games with Indianapolis.

The season gets underway Friday October 16 at Kalamazoo. They'll face the K-wings again, Saturday, October 17.
