Komets Hall of Famer Flossie Zimmerman Dies at Age 86

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Komets Hall of Famer Flossie Zimmerman has died at age 86. Zimmerman served in the Komets office as manager and executive secretary for 30 years starting in 1958.

“I've know Flossie since I was a little kid and an up-and-coming Komet fan when she was the Komets' ticket manager,” Komet general manager David Franke said. “The Zimmerman family are great ambassadors for the Komets and all of youth hockey in Fort Wayne.”

She and her husband Richard were inducted into the Komet Hall of Fame in 2004. Richard died in February of 2010.

“Flossie Zimmerman was part of the backbone of the Fort Wayne Komets,” Komet president Michael Frankie said.  “Her dedication to the Komets, Fort Wayne Youth Hockey and McMillen Park/Glenbrook Square figure skating is unsurpassed and her contributions will never be forgotten.”

Zimmerman and her husband and children all served in the hockey communities of Fort Wayne including the Fort Wayne Komet Hockey Club and youth hockey activities at McMillen Ice Arena.
