Komets Announce AHL Game in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, IN– The Komets' AHL affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, will host the Grand Rapids Griffins in an exhibition game at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:30pm.

Lake Erie is the primary affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche while Grand Rapids is the primary affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

It will mark the first ever appearance in Fort Wayne by the Lake Erie Monsters. It will be the first visit to Fort Wayne by the Griffins since Grand Rapids scored a 4-2 win over the Komets at the Memorial Coliseum March 3, 1999, in an International Hockey League game.

In addition to the Monsters-Griffins AHL exhibition game, the Memorial Coliseum will be the site of three Komet preseason tune-ups. The Komets will host the Evansville IceMen Friday, Oct. 10 at 8pm and again Saturday night, Oct. 11 at 7:30. The Kalamazoo Wings will visit Monday, Oct. 13 for a 7:30pm faceoff.

For the AHL exhibition game, the Komets will have a special three-day pre-sale of tickets for Fort Wayne season ticket holders Sept. 2, 3 and 4. The pre-sale will offer season ticket holders a chance to purchase their seats before tickets go on sale to the general public.

Tickets to all exhibition games and Fort Wayne regular season home games will go on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com Sept. 5. Prices of all exhibition game tickets, including the AHL exhibition game, will range from $8.00 to $15.00.

Home opener Oct. 18– The Komets will open the 2014-15 campaign with a home-and-home series against the new Indy Fuel. The season opener will be held at the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum in Indianapolis Friday, Oct. 17. The 63rd Fort Wayne home opener is slated Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Fuel at 7:30pm.
