Kokomo Teen Crash In Miami County

PERU, Ind. (WOWO): A Kokomo teen drifted left of center and crashed with another vehicle in Miami County.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, 17 year old Floyd Smith was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala and for an unknown reason drove across the median and onto northbound traffic on U.S. 31 south of Miami County Road 300 South. Smith struck a northbound 2013 Ford Edge, driven by 33 year old Megan Burns of Warsaw.

22 year old Terra Hildebrand of Logansport was a passanger in the Impala. She was transported to a Fort Wayne Hospital with life thretening injuries. Smith was also flown to a Fort Wayne hospital, while the driver of the Ford suffered lacerations in the crash.

At this time alcohol is not not believed to have played a factor in the crash, however the officers on scene found around 20 grams of marijuana and an unidentified powdered substance int he Impala.
