Kingman Parents Charged in Death of 2-month-old Girl

KINGMAN, Ind. (AP) – A man and a woman are accused of mistreating and causing the death of their 2-month-old daughter in western Indiana.

Timothy Briere and Vanessa Larque, both 20 and from Kingman, were arrested Tuesday morning on preliminary charges of neglect of a child resulting in death and neglect of a child.

The Indiana State Police says the infant was found unresponsive in their home last October. She was pronounced dead shortly after medical personnel arrived.

Investigators say the baby, Mellanie Briere, died from brain trauma after being shaken or hit in the head.

Briere and Larque are being held on $75,000 bond each at the Fountain County Jail.

It wasn't immediately known if they have an attorney.
