Kendallville officer struck by motorcycle released from hospital

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): A Kendallville police officer struck by a motorcycle on Friday is now out of the hospital.

Officer Blake Kugler underwent surgery for a leg injury and was released on Saturday from Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Police were involved pursuit of a motorcycle driving recklessly on U.S. 6 in Kendallville at 5:05 p.m. Friday. Kugler was outside his patrol car when he was struck by the motorcycle rider in the parking lot of Parkview Noble Hospital. Kugler was taken to that hospital before he was later transferred to Fort Wayne.

Kevin Turner, 52 of Huntertown, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. after wrecking his motorcycle trying to flee from an Albion police officer at State Road 9 and Base Line Road.

Turner is held in the Noble County Jail on a $100,000 bond facing a charge of aggravated battery. More charges are still pending.
