Jury selection begins for triple murder defendant Richards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Jury selection is underway for a man accused of a triple murder that happened last February.

19-year-old Artavius Richards is facing three counts of murder and a weapons charge for the “execution-style” deaths of 20-year-old Adam Mekki, 17-year-old Muhannad Tairab, and 23-year-old Mohamedtaha Omar.

The Journal Gazette reports jury selection began Monday morning for Richards, while his co-defendant 19-year-old darrell McDaniel will stand trial in late March. Police say they killed the three men in a marijuana robbery gone wrong.

Two of the three victims were Muslims, but police don’t believe their religion was a factor.
