Judge Rejects Mistrial in Indianapolis House Blast Trial

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana judge has rejected a defense motion for a mistrial in the case of a man accused of using natural gas to cause a deadly house explosion that devastated an Indianapolis neighborhood in 2012.

David Shircliff, an attorney for defendant Mark Leonard, argued that Marion County Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson misrepresented a video to jurors last week when she described it as a training video made by Citizens Energy.

Robinson argued the video was made by the prosecution at a Citizens Energy training demonstration and the presentation wasn't created for the trial.

St. Joseph County Superior Court Judge John Marnocha rejected the motion for a mistrial. He says there doesn't appear to be any argument the house exploded and that natural gas was the cause.
