Jobs program facing fund shortfall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A program that takes people either with no job or in dead-end jobs and trains them for new vocational careers is facing a money problem.

The problem: there’s not enough money.

The Journal Gazette reports the Urban League’s BUILD program has seen a dropoff in funding from Work One, and actually had to be suspended over the summer. That’s after the City of Fort Wayne kicked in $100,000 to fund the last session of classes.

The League’s local director calls it the most successful job training program he’s seen in 30 years, and they’re hopeful a funding solution can be found.
