GREENSBURG, Ind. (AP) _ A coroner says alcohol withdrawal caused the death of an inmate who became incoherent at a southeastern Indiana jail.
Thirty-eight-year-old Shane Satterfield of Greensburg died in March after officials say he stopped breathing at the Decatur County Jail, where he was serving a 14-day sentence for drunken driving.
County Coroner Charity Banks tells the Greensburg Daily News that a toxicology report found only an antihistamine and caffeine in Satterfield. She ruled his death by natural causes.
Lynn Brewsaugh has said in court documents that she intends to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the sheriff's department in her son's death, accusing jail officials of negligence.
Sheriff Greg Allen has declined comment, saying the case would be turned over the county's insurance carrier.
