IUPUI Student Claims, Drugged with an E-Cig and Raped

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Police at IUPUI are looking for a suspect after they say a student was drugged with an e-cigarette and raped at a campus apartment. IUPUI Police sent out a campus alert saying they learned Wednesday morning of the incident that allegedly occurred the last week of November.

The alert says a student invited an acquaintance they met on social media to their apartment in the 300 block of Porto Alegre over the Thanksgiving holiday. During the visit, the student said they were drugged with an e-cigarette and raped.

Dave Briggs with IUPUI Police says his department was not told whether the student who reported the incident was a man or a woman; they also didn't have a gender for the suspect, nor any other descriptive information. The campus alert reminded students to be careful about drinks or other items you accept from others, since date rape drugs contain no taste or odor. Victims often don't know they have ingested them until it's too late.
