IU Concerned after Purdue Shooting

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WOWO): Faculty members at Indiana University are now questioning the safety of their campus following the deadly shooting two weeks ago at Purdue University.

The concern is about many of IU's century-old buildings. The university has been adding safety features to guard against a scenario like the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre. Those include keypads and card-swipe entrances and new locking mechanisms. However, renovation money is tight and many classrooms still have doors that open outward and lack locks and peepholes. IU leaders say they're working on more formalized training for faculty, but admit it's impossible to adopt a one-size-fits-all approach to protect an entire campus.
