Investigators Say Driver Error Caused Indiana Tour Bus Crash

SELLERSBURG, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana State Police say driver error caused a tour bus crash in southern Indiana that injured more than 20 people.

Cpl. Carey Huls says investigators determined 76-year-old bus driver Rex Altenburg caused the crash when he drove off the left side of Interstate 65 for an unknown reason and then over-corrected on March 12.

The bus skidded across both southbound lanes and overturned near Henryville, about 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.

Altenburg and 20 passengers were injured in the crash. The bus was carrying members of Indiana Tech's bowling team.

Huls says no medical or physical conditions caused Altenburg's actions and the bus had no mechanical problems.

An onboard video camera and a device that records information on the bus' performance yielded no information on the crash.
