Investigations Continue in Officer Shootings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police in Gary and Indianapolis are continuing to investigate the fatal shootings of police officers in a span of less than 10 hours.

In Gary, police spokeswoman Cpl. Gabrielle King says police aren't releasing any new information Monday into the shooting death early Sunday morning of Patrolman Jeffrey Westerfield. Police previously had said three people, including one person of interest, had been taken into custody, but Monday afternoon she said she didn't know whether anyone was still being held.

In Indianapolis, police announced the funeral for Officer Perry Renn will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Twenty-five-year-old Major Davis Jr. remains in critical condition. He faces a preliminary charge of murder. Marion County Prosecutors Office spokeswoman Peg McLeish says the investigation is continuing.
