International Fugitive, Mahfuz Huq, Back in Indiana

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): International fugitive, 47-year-old Mahfuz Huq, wanted for a 1989 murder in Steuben County, is back in Indiana.

Huq was returned to Indiana this afternoon by F.B.I. authorities. He was returned to the United States from New Dehli, India where he was in custody at the Tihar Prison pending extradition.

Huq was taken into custody on the Steuben County warrant of murder at the request of Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer. He was then transported to the Steuben County Jail.

He was being temporarily housed in the Marion County Jail medical facility pending a routine medical examination. He is scheduled for an initial court appearance Thursday with a Steuben county court.
