Injured Eagle Recovering at Carroll County Wildlife Center

DELPHI, Ind. (AP) – A female bald eagle is recovering from her injuries at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Carroll County.

Conservation officers at the Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area noticed the eagle was having a hard time flying and brought her last week to the Wildcat Creek Wildlife Center in Delphi. WLFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1CeNSMf ) reports the eagle is making strides in her recovery and was soaring around her flight pen on Tuesday.

The center's executive director, Carol Blacketer, says it's unclear how the eagle was injured. She says the eagle had collapsed air sacs and internal bleeding.

Blacketer says the eagle's bands indicate she was a chick in 2003 and originally came from Michigan.

The center expects to release the eagle Thursday along the Kankakee River.
